The legendary 24 Hours of Spa is staging its 73rd edition this coming weekend from the 31st of July to the 1st of August in Spa-Francorchamps. 9 world-leading automotive brands with a total of 60 cars will take on the big battle. Unlike last year’s season highlight of the Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe, Emil Frey Racing will hit the start with not just two, but three Lamborghinis.
Norbert Siedler (#163) isn’t feeling 100 % up to par since his crash at the Official Test Days in Spa last June. As he doesn’t want to take any risks, he decided – together with the team – not to take on the big challenge of the 24 Hours of Spa. Emil Frey Racing fully supports his decision and wishes Norbert a speedy recovery so that he may return to the next race at full speed, as he always does. Experienced Lamborghini factory driver and former Emil Frey Racing driver Franck Perera will be replacing him at the race weekend in Spa. Franck knows the team, the Lamborghini as well as the circuit in Spa-Francorchamps very well, which is why the team is in good spirits.
Emil Frey Racing finished last year’s 24h race in P16 with the #14 Lamborghini, while the #163 Lamborghini unfortunately had to give in to an early finish with only 1.5 hours to go due to technical reasons. Therefore, this year, the team has set clear goals: To get all three Lamborghinis successfully across the finish line and to do so in solid positions.
This year’s official poster of the TotalEnergies 24hours of Spa flaunts, the #14 Emil Frey Racing Lamborghini with Swiss Trio Feller, Fontana and Ineichen usually behind the wheel. Hopefully, the patriot car will be delivering an outstanding performance on the 1st of August, which also happens to be the Swiss National Holiday.
Thursday’s Free Practice and Pre-Qualifying will give Emil Frey Racing time to get into the groove and find its footing on the 7km long and demanding track. The Qualifying will determine the 20 fastest cars that will compete for the Super Pole, as well as the starting positions for the rest of the grid.
For this weekend’s Endurance Cup as well, Emil Frey Racing will once again be taking part in the virtual race of the Fanatec Esports GT Pro Series with drivers Rougier (FR) and Fontana (CH) to gain as many valuable points as possible.
The race weekend, which also marks the season highlight of the Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe, will be held with spectators for the first time again after a very long time without a live audience, albeit in limited areas only. Safety measures will be set in place and are to be strictly adhered to. A number of high-level support series like the Lamborghini Super Trofeo, the GT4 European Series as well as the TCR Europe amongst others will also be taking their turn at Spa.
