Emil Frey Racing travels to Misano, Italy, for the second round of the GT World Challenge.

Safenwil – Switzerland, 13 July 2023

After a disappointing DTM weekend at the Norisring, the team travels to Misano (I) for the second round of the GT World Challenge, Sprint Series. It is the second time this year that the Swiss racing team has travelled to Misano, having already been there in March for test drives with the new Ferrari 296 GT3.

The Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli, also known as the Misano World Circuit or simply Misano, is one of the most exciting circuits in the world of motorsport. Due to its unique layout and the variety of races there, Misano attracts riders and motorsport fans worldwide.

Misano is located on the picturesque Adriatic coast in Italy and offers a unique mix of fast straights and technically challenging corners over a total length of 4.2 kilometres. The track has many obstacles that demand everything from the riders – from slow and tight hairpin turns to fast chicanes. The track layout allows for exciting overtaking manoeuvres, keeps the drivers on their toes, and requires high precision. When accelerating out of the corners, the drivers have to find the perfect balance between grip and control to achieve maximum performance without compromising the stability of their cars.

“After the Norisring, we had very little time to prepare the cars for Misano,” says Lorenz Frey-Hilti, Team Principal. “We expect similar high temperatures next weekend as at the Norisring, but the track in Misano is almost twice as long. Braking can also be an issue at Misano due to the short straights. However, Misano offers many medium-fast and fast corners, which suits the Ferrari.”

“I’m looking forward to my home race and proving my skills,” says Giacomo Altoè, driver of the #14. “The track at Misano is very demanding, and it would be even nicer to finish on the podium. That’s what I’m working towards.”

The weekend programme starts Thursday afternoon with an additional practice session at 14.00. Two free practice sessions are scheduled on Friday at 09.40 and 15.20, respectively. Late risers, beware: This weekend, qualifying sessions (Saturday and Sunday) will start at 09.00 hrs, followed by the races at 14.00 hrs.

Both can be followed live on YouTube.
