Emil Frey Racing starts test season with new Ferrari 296 GT3

Le Castellet – France, 09.03.2023

The Swiss Emil Frey Racing team only had little time to prepare and get acquainted with the new settings of the Ferrari 296 GT3. The team wanted to use the time at the official test days of the Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe for a baseline set up and to understand the characteristics of the new vehicles.

“Our team together with the great support of Ferrari worked really hard the last couple of weeks to get the cars ready for the first outings. We were excited to see the cars performing on track and were able to collect many important data already. With the new Ferrari 296 GT3 we have an outstanding base. The test results are very encouraging, and the team is happy with the achievements.” said Lorenz Frey-Hilti, Team Principal of Emil Frey Racing.

The five team drivers got the chance to sit behind the steering wheel of the Ferrari 296 GT3 for the first time. “The car feels great, the handling and the overall behaviour is just amazing besides I feel safe.”, said Jack Aitken, who has started this test season with the #14 and made the opening laps with the brand-new Ferrari 296 GT3.

Splitting the test program between the two cars maximised the available time on track and allowed to try different settings. Various tests regarding mechanical setup, aerodynamics and electronical systems were conducted. The testing season will continue during the next few weeks.

You can follow the progress on Emil Frey Racing’s social media channels, where you also can see behind-the-scenes footage of the team in action and many updates on the performance of the new Ferrari 296 GT3.
