For Emil Frey racing, the last sprint weekend in British Brands Hatch didn’t go as planned. Expectations weren’t met and the team’s frustration over the 30-second penalty is still palpable. However, there isn’t much time to dwell on, as the next race weekend is already on the horizon. The penultimate Endurance race of the season is taking center stage at the famous Nürburgring in the German Eifel area this coming weekend. Time for Emil Frey Racing to re-set their frame of mind: From the small but fine British racetrack and its two Sprint races in Brands Hatch, it’s now time to head to Nürburgring with its 5,148 km long track and its three-hour long Endurance race. Emil Frey Racing currently sits in P3 in the overall ranking; in P2 in the Sprint Cup and in P7 in the Endurance Cup. May the hunt begin!
As always during Endurance weekends, there will be three drivers per car who will be fighting it out for EFR. 26-year old Italian Luca Ghiotto will get behind the wheel for Jack Aitken. Hailing from the region of Veneto, Luca Ghiotto is currently part of the Lamborghini GT3 Junior program and has already gained valuable experience with the car. Just like many other drivers, Ghiotto’s career began in karting, wherefrom he moved to formula racing, where he won the Formula Renault 2.0 Alps Cup in 2013 and bagged second place at the Italian Formula Abarth Championship in 2021. He also raced successfully in Formula 2 for 5 years and finished second in the GP3 championship in 2015.
Ghiotto, Lappalainen and Rougier therefore complete the driver lineup for the #114 Lamborghini.
