Emil Frey Racing heads to Zandvoort in search of strong GT Masters result

  • Dutch circuit plays host to third round of the season
  • Team returns to the scene of double GT3 victory last year
  • Strong results the aim as all three crews look to move up standings

Safenwil (Switzerland), June 23rd 2022

Following a one-month break, Emil Frey Racing will return to ADAC GT Masters action this weekend, as the championship moves north to Zandvoort for the third round of the year.

For Emil Frey Racing, the trip to the Netherlands is another opportunity to build on the promise shown already in the previous two race weekends in 2022 and a homecoming of sorts after achieving a pair of GT World Challenge Europe victories at the track last season.

This week is a particularly busy period for the Swiss team, who just participated the official test days for next month’s Spa 24 Hours. From there, the crews travelled the relatively short distance to Zandvoort before track action begins in earnest on Friday.

Heading into the weekend, the #19 partnership of Arthur Rougier and Franck Perera lie ninth in the overall standings with 32 points, having taken pole position and a podium finish in the opening round of the year at Oschersleben. Three points further back is the #63 crew of Albert Costa Balboa and Jack Aitken. Both cars will be aiming to get onto the podium this weekend.

Sixteenth in the overall standings and fourth in the Junior classification, the #14 of Konsta Lappalainen and Mick Wishofer are hoping to bounce back after a challenging Red Bull Ring meeting, while in the Teams’ standings, it’s a close affair with just seven points covering second place and Emil Frey Racing in fifth.

As ever, qualifying will be a key element of the weekend at Zandvoort, as the track is known for being difficult to overtake on. The first corner, Tarzanbocht and the turn 11/12 Hans Ernst Bocht offer the best opportunities. The weekend begins with two one-hour free practice sessions on Friday, taking place at 09:25 and 14:40 respectively. Qualifying for race one will take place on Saturday morning, beginning at 09:05, with Race 1 starting at 13:00. As normal, Race 2 will also take place at 13:00 on Sunday following a morning qualifying session at 08:40.
