Emil Frey Racing ends test season in Valencia

Valencia – Spain, 26.04.2023

The Swiss motorsport team Emil Frey Racing completed its test season with the new Ferrari 296 GT3. The team extensively tested the two race cars on different tracks and under different conditions over the past months.

During the test season, the team focused on optimizing the electronic driving aids and testing different setups and strategies. Emil Frey Racing gathered valuable data and insights that will be used to further fine-tune the cars and prepare for the upcoming racing season.

“We are happy with how the test season went,” said Lorenz Frey-Hilti, Team Principal. “Although the cars are new, luckily, we had surprisingly few technical or electronic problems. The Ferrari reacts well to changes, and we learned a lot about its potential. Of course, we would like to test more, but we are looking forward to the start of the season and are confident that we will bring a good overall package to the start.”

Jack Aitken said, “Testing has gone quite well for us. We’ve been able to have some very productive days. There is still a lot to learn with this new car, but I’m sure we’ll learn more and more with every day that passes on track. We’re very excited to start this new period with Ferrari, and I think we’re doing a great job so far. Unfortunately, I have to miss the second round in Zandvoort, which is a great shame because I have a clash with my IMSA calendar where I’ll be racing in Watkins Glen. But my teammate Albert Costa Balboa will take over, and I’m sure that he’ll do a fantastic job for the team as he already knows the car and Emil Frey Racing very well. So, I’ll be watching and supporting from far away and then resuming my service with the team after that.”

Albert Costa said, “I’m very excited to finally make my debut in DTM. It has always been a dream to race in this championship, and I can’t thank Emil Frey Racing enough for giving me this opportunity to replace Jack in Zandvoort for the second round. In the past, we’ve always been strong in Zandvoort, and I hope I can keep this up for this new chapter. It won’t be easy as the level is really high, but I’ll do my best.”

Emil Frey Racing is looking forward to the upcoming season and is doing its best to compete against top-class competition.
