Emil Frey Racing confirms its entry into the DTM and the GT World Challenge Europe Sprint

Safenwil – Switzerland, 24.02.2023

In addition to the GT World Challenge Europe Sprint series, Emil Frey Racing will also participate in the DTM next season with two Ferrari 296 GT3. Moreover, the Swiss racing team welcomes a new member, Thierry Vermeulen (NL).

In total, the 2023 season comprises eight DTM and five GT World Challenge Europe Sprint race weekends, that means one more weekend than last year. For the first time, the team will have two Ferrari 296 GT3 lined up for the season’s opening race in Brands Hatch (UK). Emil Frey Racing had already announced in January 2023 that it would be changing the make of its cars from Lamborghini to Ferrari.

However, one fact remains unchanged, i.e. the car number #14, which will compete in all races of the season. Giacomo Altoè (IT) and Konsta Lappalainen (FIN) will drive #14 in the GT World Challenge. Albert Costa (ES) and newbie Thierry Vermeulen (NL) will share the wheel of the second vehicle, #69. Jack Aitken (UK) will take part in the DTM races with the traditional vehicle #14. During the DTM, the newly arrived team member, Thierry Vermeulen, will pilot the second Ferrari #69.

Emil Frey Racing is looking forward to the new season: “After having changed car make, confirmed the racing calendar, and established our pilots, we are now happy to be able to focus entirely on the coming test days. We look forward to entering the DTM and GT World Challenge Sprint with the brand-new Ferrari 296 GT3. We already know most of the pilots from our line-up. It is a good mix of years of experience and young talents. We are pleased to have on our side Thierry Vermeulen, a young and very talented pilot from Red Bull, for the 2023 racing season. We are looking forward to beginning the season with this new pilot formation,” said the team principal, Lorenz Frey-Hilti.

Thierry Vermeulen is also thrilled to be starting the new season with EFR: “I look forward to my first year with Emil Frey Racing and will give my absolute best for my new team during all thirteen races of the calendar. I intend to finish the season on a high in Hockenheim. “
