The team is happy and relieved to see the positive progress Jack Aitken is making on his way to recovery since his crash in Spa-Francorchamps. Still, he’ll be skipping the next few race weekends until he’s fully recovered. He has nevertheless stated that he was very much looking forward to getting back in the car soon. Emil Frey Racing is wishing Aitken a speedy recovery and is looking forward to his return as well. His colleague Arthur Rougier will be replacing him this coming Sprint weekend in Brands Hatch (UK) and will therefore take on the two races alongside Konsta Lappalainen in the #114.
The month of August is usually viewed as a summer break in the world of motorsports, in order to recharge batteries for the last races of the season. However, it was a very labor-intensive time for Emil Frey Racing after the crash in Spa, especially since time was limited for the work that needed to be done before the next race weekend. The crews of mechanics for both the #114 and the #163 immediately got to work once the new Lamborghinis were delivered to make sure that they would be ready with the usual three fully functioning cars at the Sprint weekend in Brands Hatch.
The shine of a newly delivered Lamborghini may seem to a layman like the car was ready to go, but experts know that a lot of work still needs to be done in the interior of a Lamborghini, and that it simply cannot be gleaned from just looking at the car what kind of work that is. For example, the car needed to be fitted with additional sensors and a rearview camera, the drink- and radio system needed to be installed, all the bolts on the chassis needed to be checked and the seat fitting had to be done, as well as other important work that needed to be finished for the race in Brands Hatch.
The Emil Frey Racing team is excited and headed to British Brands Hatch with great expectations, where the team last hit the circuit three years ago with two Lexus cars. The course is 3,916km long and is thus considered one of the rather short circuits in this year’s race calendar. It comprises nine turns and is known for its hills and valleys, which stretch across the forest landscape, which is why drivers consider it a very challenging track.
