Safenwil (Switzerland), Mai 17th 2022

Following a successful maiden outing in the ADAC GT Masters last month, Emil Frey Racing returns to action for round two of the 2022 season at the Red Bull Ring in Austria this weekend.

The 4.138km circuit, close to Spielberg offers a degree of familiarity for the team, having last raced there during the International GT Open title-winning campaign in 2019, the first season using the Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO. The 10-turn track features a combination of long straights, heavy braking and sweeping corners, and is one of the favourites among the GT racing community.

Emil Frey Racing’s start to the GT Masters season has been highly promising, with the opening round at Oschersleben producing a podium in the first race of the year courtesy of Franck Perera and Arthur Rougier. The French pair, driving the #19 Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO, started from pole position and led for the majority of the race before settling for second.

In the second race, the #63 car of Jack Aitken and Albert Costa Balboa finished fifth, while the #14 entry of Konsta Lappalainen and Mick Wishofer backed up a Junior Trophy podium in race one with another overall top 10 finish. The Red Bull Ring weekend will be particularly important for Wishofer, who will be racing on home soil.

Therefore, the team is determined to maintain the momentum gained from the first-round heading into the weekend, on a circuit it has experience of with the Lamborghini. With Balance of Performance a key part of the championship format, free practice and qualifying will be crucial to ensuring another positive result in both the one-hour races.

After three test sessions on Thursday, the weekend begins with two one-hour free practice sessions on Friday, taking place at 10:25 and 14:50 respectively. Then it’s on to qualifying on Saturday morning, beginning at 08:45, with Race 1 starting at 13:00. Race 2 will take place at 13:00 on Sunday following a morning qualifying session at 08:45.

All ADAC GT Masters races can be followed on live television via NITRO or streamed on RTL+
