- Endurance Cup season enters its final stages this weekend
- All three crews determined to record strong result
- First GTWC Europe race to be held at the 4.574km circuit

Emil Frey Racing enters the penultimate round of the Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup campaign at Hockenheim this weekend with eyes focused on delivering a long-awaited first podium of the season.
The Swiss-based team has been able to take plenty of positives from the Endurance Cup so far in 2022, but an overall top three finish has been elusive due to bad luck, most notably in the 1000km of Le Castellet and the 24 Hours of Spa.
With just two events left in the GTWC Europe season, the three-hour race at Hockenheim represents the perfect opportunity for Emil Frey Racing to build on the momentum it has gathered from its other GT3 programme, ADAC GT Masters.
The team is coming off the back of a double podium finish for two of its drivers in the #63 Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO, as Albert Costa Balboa and Jack Aitken twice finished second. They will again team up with Mirko Bortolotti in the Pro entry this weekend.
In the #19 car, Arthur Rougier is partnered once more by Giacomo Altoè and Léo Roussel; the trio raced strongly in the 24 Hours of Spa to record a creditable 14th place and will be keen to put their own misfortune to an end in Germany.
Fresh from their Silver Cup podium at Spa, the #14 crew of Konsta Lappalainen, Stuart White and Tuomas Tujula are aiming to break into the top three of the Silver Cup drivers’ standings, while it’s a similar story in the teams’ championship in class.
This will be the first time Emil Frey Racing has competed at Hockenheim since its title-winning campaign in International GT Open in 2019.
The weekend starts with a paid test session at 14:00 on Thursday September 1st, followed by free practice taking place at 09:45 on Saturday morning, before pre-qualifying later in the day at 14:05. Then, it’s onto the all-important three-part qualifying session on Sunday morning, at 09:45 while the race begins at 15:00.
