Emil Frey Racing ahead of DTM debut

Safenwil – Switzerland, 24.05.2023

Emil Frey Racing will debut in the prestigious German Touring Car Masters (DTM) at Oschersleben upcoming weekend. The Swiss team will compete with former Formula 1 driver Jack Aitken (UK) and young talent Thierry Vermeulen (NL).

The traditional and prestigious DTM, newly under the ADAC umbrella, enters its 37th season this upcoming weekend. The 2023 season comprises eight weekends with two 1-hour races each. Five manufacturers, 13 teams and 27 high-class drivers will fight for victories and points on the weekends. Emil Frey Racing will enter two Ferrari 296 GT3s and is the only team representing the Ferrari brand in the DTM. Jack Aitken will drive the #14, and the young Dutchman, Thierry Vermeulen, will be behind the wheel of the #69.

Jürg Flach, Technical Director, describes the time between the season opener at Brands Hatch and the first DTM race: “After the opening weekend of the GT World Challenge Sprint Cup, we had very little time to prepare the cars for the DTM start. Damage incurred was repaired, the cars were completely checked, and the basic settings for Oschersleben were adjusted.”

Team Principal Lorenz Frey-Hilti is looking forward to the start of the DTM season: “Our team has worked meticulously towards this moment in the few months since we switched to Ferrari. We are looking forward to the new challenge in the DTM. The competition is fierce and close races are guaranteed. I am especially looking forward to Oschersleben. It’s a track I enjoyed as a racing driver, and the many fans always create a super atmosphere.”

The first DTM race weekend of the season will start with two 45-minute free practice sessions, which will take place on Friday at 12.15 pm and 4.35 pm. Qualifying one is set for Saturday at 9.45 am, and the first race will start at 1.30 pm. Qualifying 2 will occur on Sunday at 9.35 am, and the second race will begin at 1.30 pm.

All DTM races will be broadcast live on FreeTV on ProSieben. The qualifying and free practice sessions can be seen in the live stream on ran.de.
