Double-header for Emil Frey Racing with DTM and ADAC GT Masters in Zandvoort

Safenwil – Switzerland, 04th June 2024

Emil Frey Racing has its second double-header of the year taking place this coming weekend: At the third round of the DTM in Zandvoort (Netherlands), the ADAC GT Masters will once again race in the supporting programme, as they did at the season-opener in Oschersleben. After the disappointing weekend at the Lausitzring, the team from Safenwil in Switzerland is hoping for good results in both championships.

The Circuit Zandvoort with its 4.259 kilometers of racing asphalt is the third stop of the season in the German championship. The 21-year-old Thierry Vermeulen travels to Zandvoort as the local hero and only Dutchman on the grid. An exciting weekend awaits Emil Frey Racing on the circuit located within the dunes just off the North Sea coast. After a short break, the DTM returned to the legendary race track in 2023. The two banked turns, the Hugenholtzbocht behind the paddock and the Arie Luyendykbocht leading to the start and finish straight, are particularly spectacular.

While the team was only able to take home five championship points in the DTM due to the extremely poor Balance of Performance (BoP) at the Lausitzring, the team dropped to eighth place in the standings. In the ADAC GT Masters, the team is in 6th place.

The second double header with both the DTM and the ADAC GT Masters will take place in Zandvoort (Netherlands) from 7th until 9th June 2024.

Team Quotes Emil Frey Racing

Lorenz Frey-Hilti, Team Principal
“We have put the disappointment of the Lausitzring behind us and are now looking ahead with optimism and forward to Zandvoort. We are competitive as a team, know our strength and are motivated going into the new race weekend. With the DTM and the ADAC GT Masters in one weekend, it will be very exciting again – and Zandvoort as a circuit is hugely spectacular and always good for a surprise.”

Jürg Flach, Technical Director
“We were in Zandvoort twice last year. Once as part of the DTM and once for the GT World Challenge Sprint Cup. The BoP and technical problems prevented us from doing better in the DTM races. During the weekend, we were competitive with an adjusted performance classification. If everything goes right, we will be able to continue our good results we achieved before the Lausitzring.”

Driver Quotes DTM

Jack Aitken (Great Britain) #14
“I’m looking forward to it, because last year I missed the race weekend in Zandvoort, so in a way it will be a new experience for me with the Ferrari. Of course, we hope that we can be competitive there again.”

Thierry Vermeulen (The Netherlands) #69
“After the disappointment at the Lausitzring, I’m now looking forward all the more to my home race in Zandvoort. The team is well-prepared and I can hardly wait to finally get into the car. A big thank you goes to all the fans around the race track and of course I hope that I can achieve a good result.”

Driver Quotes ADAC GT Masters

Jean-Luc D´Auria (Switzerland) #14
“My preparation for Zandvoort was very intensive, I spent a lot of time in the race simulator at Emil Frey to improve my track knowledge. I raced at Zandvoort three years ago, but only for ten laps back then, so my experience on the track is not yet very high. Nevertheless, I am very optimistic and we as a team simply have to erase the modest results from Oschersleben and attack again.”

Alain Valente (Switzerland) #14
“I’m really looking forward to driving at Zandvoort. I’ve been there once before, in GT4 in 2019, but the track layout has changed a bit since then, so I’m really looking forward to the races. Of course, we hope that we can now show our full potential after Oschersleben.”
